AMJAD KHWAJA PROVOKED ALERT IN INDIA
Mohammed Amjad – alias Amjad Khwaja, 27, an Indian Harakat-ul Jihad Islami – HuJI commander, wanted since 2005 by the Indian Hyderabad anti-Terror police task force and the mastermind of the Hyderabad Attack, on 08/25/2007, was arrested in India in his base town, the southern Indian city of Chennai, on 01/18/2010. He had with him three passports issued in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh under different names.
In his initial interrogation Amjad Khwaja admitted being trained in Pakistan and revealed a possible plot to hijack an Indian airliner flying to a neighbor country, which provoked a major alert in Indian airports, air marshals had been deployed at certain flights in the South Asia region and a number of other security measures had been taken too.
Mohammed Amjad Khwaja also confessed they intended to launch yet another terror attack in Hyderabad on Republic Day, on 01/26/2010.
Amjad Khwaja is, probably, also behind media reports in India which claimed Al Qaeda wants to provoke war between India and Pakistan (see also - Cold-Shoulder).
