TWO ARRESTED IN GERMANY OVER PLOT
 German prosecutors said, on Friday 09/19/2008, they have arrested a German and a Turkish citizen in Frankfurt suspected of links to the international terror network Al Qaeda. They are accused of being involved in a foiled Ramstein Plot in 2007 to attack USA and other targets.
The two men arrested were identified as Omid Shirkhani, 27, a German citizen of Afghan descent, and Huseyin Ozgun, a 27-year-old Turkish national. Omid Shirkhani and Huseyin Ozgun were under surveillance for few months before arrested.
Omid Shirkhani is suspected of membership in the Islamic Jihad Union -IJU. Huseyin Ozgun is suspected of supporting the same group. Prosecutors believe the pair had direct links to three alleged members of the German cell of the Islamic Jihad Union who were arrested in 2007 and charged earlier this month. The Uzbek group has militant camps in Pakistan or Afghanistan.
The prosecutor said in a statement that Omid Shirkhani and Huseyin Ozgun were linked to Adem Yilmaz, who was arrested along with two others last year for plotting bomb attacks in Germany. The three were charged officially on 09/02/2008. The prosecutor added that Omid Shirkhani and Huseyin Ozgun had traveled to Pakistan, separately, for training at a militant camp in 2007.
Huseyin Ozgun was said to have been detained, for a short time, by Pakistani authorities on his way to an Islamic Jihad Union camp in FATA region.
