Mohammed Atef – Abu Hafez
 Mohammed Atef was born in Egypt and was an EGYPTIAN Islamic Jihad activist. After the assassination of the Egyptian President Anwar Saadat by Khalid El-Islambouli, on 10/06/1981, and the crack down on Islamic Jihad activist, he fled Egypt to Somalia sometime in the middle of the ‘80.
American investigators believed that Mohammed Atef instigated the attacks on USA army in Somalia during operation “Restore Hope” and the battle on Mogadishu in 1993. Mohamed Atef replaced Abu Ubaidah al-Banshiri as the commander of Al Qaeda’s military wing after Abu Ubaidah al-Banshiri sank in Lake Victoria, on the ferry “MV Bukoba” accident that claimed the life of over 800 passengers on 05/21/1996.
After the attack on USA embassy in Kenya and Tanzania on 08/07/1998 USA investigation revealed the involvement of Mohammed Atef in the attack and he was put onto the “Most Wanted” list of the FBI.
Mohammed Atef succeeded to leave Somalia and to find refuge in Afghanistan as the commander of the military wing of Al Qaeda in 1999.
In 01/2001 Mohammed Atef s’ daughter married Osama Bin Laden s’ son - Mohammed bin Laden.
After The 9/11 the USA invaded Afghanistan in operation " Absolute Justice " on 11/2001 and Mohammed Atef was killed in an American air-strike near Kabul, Afghanistan on 11/16/2001.
In the aftermath of operation Absolute Justice in Afghanistan, USA intelligence recovered five footages from the rubble of the destroyed home of Mohammad Atef, on 01/14/2002, outside Kabul. In the footage 20 of Al Qaeda members, three of whom: Abderraouf Jdey, Faker Boussora and Ramzi Binalshibh, were already known to the USA authorities, most of them from Saudi Arabia and Yemen, spoke about Jihad against Western interests and an attack that was supposed to be carried out soon (see - .Atef's Footages)
