BANGLADESH
 BAngladesh, on the Northern coast of the Pacific Ocean is almost surrounded by India from all directions accept the Pacific Ocean in the South and a small section of border with Myanmar (Burma) in the South-East.
BAngladesh stretches on 148,000 km and has a population of about 155,000,000. It is one of the densest countries in the world, over 1000 people per Km, accept small countries like Singapore. BAngladesh is also one of the poorest countries although in the last years a significant economic progress was achieved. .
From 1947 and the partition of India between a Hindu state and a Muslim state, BAngladesh was the Eastern district of Pakistan, although thousands of km separated the two regions. BAngladesh remained the neglected part of Pakistan while the economic and political power was in the part which is nowadays Pakistan. In 1971, following yet another war between India and Pakistan and a revolt against Pakistani rule in BAngladesh, BAngladesh was separated from Pakistan and became an independent state.
98% of BAngladesh population is Bengali with a similar social culture as in neighbor India. 85% are Sunnite Muslims, 5% Shiite Muslims and about 9% Hindus. Because of the homogenous ethnic and religious populations the internal conflicts in BAngladesh are not about religion or ethnic tensions but because of political and economical controversies. The ideas of Global Jihad have only a minor sympathy in the local populations.
Two radical Islamic groups are operating in BAngladesh but never gained support of the masses: the Islami Chhatra Shibir (BICS), the students wing of the Islamic Movement in BAngladesh and the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen (the Muiahidin society) both had only a small impact on the political and social development in BAngladesh.
