– MILAN 2001 CELL

The Milan 01 Cell was an Al Qaeda cell operating in Milan, Italy, from 1998 to 04/2001. The cell was assembled by a group of about a dozen Muslims from the Maghreb - North Africa, some of them escaped the civil war in Algeria and were Al Qaeda sympathizers. Continue reading

Ansar al Islam was a group established by two Islamic extremists, Abu Musab al Zarqawi and Mullah Krekar, both escapees from Jordan in 1999. They merged their supporters with a local Kurdish Sunnite group “Jund al Islam” ( Soldiers of Islam), led by Abu Abdullah al Shafii, in the mountain of Iraqi Kurdistan in 12/2001. Continue reading
