– ALI CHARAF DAMACHE INDICTED IN IRELAND

Two Muslim men, Ali  Charaf Damache (pic) and Abdul Salam Monsour Khalil Al-Jahani, were charged in Ireland, on Monday 03/15/2010, after a probe into an alleged plot to kill the SWEDISH CARTOON illustrator Lars Vilks, who drew indecent cartoons of Prophet Mohammed, a report said.

Ali  Charaf Damache, 44, the ringleader and the husband since 09/2009 of Jamie Paulin Ramirez, who is originally from Algeria but has been living in Ireland for about ten years, appeared in court and charged with sending, on 01/09/2010, a menacing text message, said Irish state broadcaster RTE. According to USA prosecution Ali  Charafe Damache, 0n 01/09/2010, made death threats over the phone to Majed Moughni, a Dearborn attorney who organized a rally against Islamic terrorism after the Flight-253 attempt in 2009 Christmas eve.

Abdul Salam Monsour Khalil Al-Jahani was charged with an immigration offence at the court in Waterford, southeast Ireland. The 32-year-old Libyan is accused of presenting false documentation under the Immigration Act 2004.

They were remanded in custody and will appear in court again, on Friday 03/19/2010, said RTE.

The men were part of a seven-strong group arrested last Tuesday over an alleged plot to assassinate Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks, who has a $100,000 (74,2D0-euro) bounty on his head from an Al Qaeda-linked group (see – Arrests 03.09.10).

Another suspect, a Croatian man, was released without charge on Monday after six days of questioning, Irish police said.

Only two of the seven people arrested have now faced charges. The other five, three women and two men, have been released without charge in recent days.

Those originally arrested were three Algerians, a Libyan, a Palestinian, a Croatian and the USA national Jamie Paulin Ramirez, a police source has told AFP. They ranged in age from mid 20s to late 40s.

An Al Qaeda front organization then offered $100,000 to anyone who murdered Vilks — with an extra 50,000 if his throat was slit — and $50,000 for the death of Nerikes Allehanda editor-in-chief Ulf Johansson.

Last week, the Irish Independent newspaper reported that a suspect known as “Jihad-Jane”, the online name of Colleen LaRose, had spent two weeks in Ireland last September on a “fact-finding trip” before her arrest in October.

She was reportedly monitored with a couple (probably Jamie Paulin Ramirez and her Algerian husband Ali  Charaf Damache) in Cork and Waterford in southern Ireland, where the seven were arrested. The plot was, probably, a flop.
