– OVER 45 KILLED IN KARBALA

On 03/17/2008 afternoon a female suicide bomber blew herself up among Shiaa worshippers on the street leading to Imam Hussein shrine in the city of Karbala, killing at least 45 people. The Imam Hussein shrine, The holiest place for the Shiite Islam.
According to initial report over 30 people were killed, among them few Iranians, and over 50 wounded. The attack is a serious challenge to Shiite cleric Muqtada Sadr’s ‘Mahdi Army’ unilateral cease-fire and can, easily, reignite sectarian violence. (See – US Dilemma )
The use of female suicide bombers increased largely in the past few months.
