– 12 KILLED IN DAMADOLA BY USA AIR STRIKE
On Wednesday 05/14/2008 night an unmanned predator American drones targeted, Bajaur tribal area, a number of suspected Al Qaeda and Taliban militants in the town of Damadola killing 12 people. The identity of the casulties is not yet clear
Damadola is in North-West Pakistan. On 01/13/2006 USA launched an air strike near Damadola, close to Afghanistan border, in order to kill Ayman Al Zawahiri. Many victims were buried under the ruins without being identified but Ayman Al Zawahiri was not among them (see – Damadola Fiasco ).
Since the beginning of 2008 there has been an increase in US missile attacks in the tribal areas, apparently as part of a US agreement with Pakistan’s President Pervez Musharraf. The country’s newly elected government has asked the USA to stop striking within its territory to aid its policy of negotiating with pro-Taliban militants.
The attack is a challenge for the elected government in the same day that the main coalition partner, Nawaz Sharif’s PML-N (PAKISTAN Muslim League –N) party leaved the coalition and shock the stability of the democratic system in Pakistan.
