Kamal Said Hassan was born in 1984 from Plymouth Minnesota. He attended Minneapolis Community and Technical College in 2006.
Kamal Said Hassan’s Facebook profile page lists him as married, Muslim, and a fan of the 1990s TV series “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” He also belonged to the group “THE SUFFERING SOMALIS IN MOGADISHO,” a page dedicated to the mistreatment of Somalis under the occupation of Ethiopian soldiers beginning in 2006.
In 11/2007 Kamal Said Hassanwas among the first to leave for the al-Shabab training camp in Somalia, probably under the influence of Cabdulaahi Ahmed Faarax.
Kamal Said Hassan remained active with al-Shabab until about 08/2008 – several months after the U.S. declared the group a terrorist organization.
Kamal Said Hassan pleaded guilty, on 08/12/2009, in a plea deal after he returned to USA, with providing material support to terrorists and to a foreign terrorist organization, including lying to federal agents about the extent of his involvement with al-Shabab (see – Minneapolis Network).
Two other men Abdifatah Yusuf Isse, of Seattle, and Salah Osman Ahmed, of Brooklyn Park — pleaded guilty to providing material support to terror groups after each returned to Somalia and trained with al-Shabab.
