– HICHAM YEZZA FACES DEPORTATION
The Algerian Hicham Yezza, 30, an employee of the University of Nottingham was arrested by the Midlands Counter-Terrorism police unit, on 05/14/2008, after police found he had been passed an Al Qaeda training manual by postgraduate student Rizwaan Sabir to print. Rizwaan Sabir, 22, was arrested too.
Both Hicham Yezza and Rizwaan Sabir were released 6 days later, on 05/20/2008, after they were cleared of any involvement in terrorist activity.
Hicham Yezza was then rearrested on suspicion of an immigration offence after the police found out that his visa’s validity expired some time ago. He had been held at the Colnbrook Immigration Detention Centre near Heathrow. On Monday 06/16/2008 Hicham Yezza has been granted bail following an immigration hearing.
Hicham Yezza might face deportation back to Algeria.
