– CLASHES INTENSIFIED IN GAZA STRIP
Following a day of bombings, on Friday 07/25/2008, which caused the death of six Hamas operatives, the Hamas arrested about 120 Fatah activists in Gaza Strip (see – Gaza 07.25.08 ). On Sunday 07/27/2008 dawn, the Hamas Special Operational Force, known as “Tanphizya”- took over, in Sabra neighborhood of Gaza town, buildings where the Durmush clan and its militia – Army of Islam are located. Few militia members were wounded in the clashes.
The Durmush clan supported in the past year the Hamas but after two clan members were killed in unclear circumstances, on 01/01/2007, by Hamas members the powerful Durmush clan switched sides from Hamas to Fatah.
