– YEMEN’S RIFT – 135 WERE KILLED IN 2 SUICIDE BOMBINGS IN SANAA

 

According to final figures at 135 people were killed in Yemen, on Friday 03/20/2015, and about 340 were injured after two suicide bombers targeted two mosques in central Sanaa,The attacks occurred during Friday prayers at the Al-Badr and Al-Hashahush mosques in the Yemeni capital, the channel reported. Both are known to be primarily attended by Shia Houthi supporters backed by Iran.

The attack occurred after Shia rebels, backed by Iran, took over  Sanaa and Northern Yemen, in 02/2015, the Yemeni president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi fled to Aden, the former capital of South Yemen, decxlaired that he is still the leagal president of all Yemen and a day after unidentified airplans bombed the Presidential Palace in Aden.  An intense gun battles in the southern city of Aden, between troops loyal to Yemen’s former president Ali Abdullah Saleh and current president Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi left 13 people dead.

A top Shia Houthi leader,  Abdel-Karim al-Kheiwan was shot dead in Sanaa on Wednesday 03/18/2015,. Al Qaeda has claimed responsibility for the assassination.

 

Yemen became divided between the Northern Part with Sanaa the capital, basically controlled by pro Iranian Shia Houthis and southern Yemen, with its Capital Aden, divided between pro Al Qaeda  forces in the Eastern provinces of Hadramout  and Shabwa Province and other Sunni factions  loyal to Yemen’s former president Ali Abdullah Saleh and current president Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi fighting each other in Aden and the Southern Province of Abyan .
