– CAMERON – ISIS IS “THE STRUGGLE OF OUR GENERATION’
The fight against Islamic State is “the struggle of our generation”, David Cameron has said, on Monday 06/29/2015, as it emerged the British death toll in the Tunisian Sousse shooting terror attack will rise above 30.
.He told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme the “absolutely horrific” events had “shocked the whole of the world”.
He said ISIS posed “an existential threat” to the West, and its members in Iraq and Syria were plotting “terrible attacks” on British soil.
Asked if British troops were needed on the ground, he added: “Our strategy is to build up local armies. It’s much easier to just invade a country… it’s easier and faster, but that has consequences.”
Cameron’s comment is a sequel to Tony Blair ’s remark, on Thursday 09/02/2010, in which he portrayed radical Islam as the “greatest threat facing the world today”. It is also a drastic change from previous attitude that the the key to the Middle East ongoing problems and to greater stability all over the world is the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict.
** Just two days earlier, on Saturday 06/27/2015, French PM Manuel Valls told iTELE rolling news channel in France “We cannot lose this war (on terror) because it’s fundamentally a war of civilisation. It’s our society, our civilisation that we are defending” but he still abstained from any linkage between Islam or radical Islam and “terror”
