– TALIBAN SACK MANSOOR DADULLAH
* Mansoor Dadullah replaced his legendary older brother Dadullah Akhund, who was killed by Afghan forces in early 05/2007, as a senior Taliban commander in Helmand province in South Afghanistan.
On 12/29/2007, in an unusual enouncement, Mullah Omar, the head of the Taliban, has dismissed Mansoor Dadullah from command. “Mansoor Dadullah does not obey the rules of the Islamic emirate and violates it. Therefore it was decided not to appoint any post in the emirate to him. Mansoor Dadullah is no longer holding any post or responsibility in Taliban’s ranks” Mullah Omar’s statement said.
Since the Taliban infrastructure is based on Tribal loyalties and family relations, it is logical to assume that Mansoor Dadullah’s fighters will stay loyal to Mansoor Dadullah and that the enouncement marks a rift in the Taliban ranks.
On 02/11/2008 Mansoor Dadullah was captured by Pakistani security forces near the village of Gawal Ismail Zai in Baluchistan province, close to the Afghan border, along with four other fighters.
According to Pakistani sources Mansoor Dadullah was seriously injured in the shootout that breached out during the arrest.
