The most secure Green Zone in Baghdad, The home to the Iraqi government headquarters, the US and British embassies, and thousands of American troops, was hit, on Sunday 03/23/2008 morning, by a barrage of at least 15 mortars shells starting shortly before 06:00. Smoke has been seen rising from the fortified Green Zone after the explosions.
The USA public address system warned people “to duck and cover” and to stay away from windows. 15 Iraqi civilians were killed by the bombardment.
