– NOOR OMOG & TAUFIK RIFKI

* Taufik Rifki, known as Abu-Ubaida, was a facilitator and money currier for the INDONESIAN JI in the Southern Philippines. Taufik Rifki became Fathur Rohman Ghozi’s depute as leader of INDONESIAN JI in the Southern Philippines, after Rohman Ghozi fled Manila jail on 07/13/2003.

Taufik Rifki – Abu-Ubaida was arrested in the Southern Philippines, on 09/30/2003, in an undercover operation. Since Fathur Rohman Ghozi was shot dead by the Pilipino army, on 10/12/2003, it is most likely that Taufik Rifki turned him in during his interrogation.

On 10/20/2003, the Pilipino Army, based on information obtained from Taufik Rifki, raided a house near the Southern city of Cotabato. In the house the army found manuals, weapons and barrels with unidentified liquid, which aroused fear of potential chemical substance to be used in future terror attacks.

On 10/23/2003 the Pilipino police arrested, probably also due to Taufik Rifki’s investigation, yet another operative, a Pilipino resident from Jordanian descent, Muhammed Abdel Jalil, who is related to one of Osama Bin Laden’s brothers in law. Muhammed Abdel Jalil founded in the early 90s’ and Islamic in the Philippines, which authorities suspected, was used to fund terror in the Southern Philippines.

Taufik Rifki was among many terror activists who fled Basilan jail, on 04/10/2004 (see – Basilan Jail Break). Eventually Taufik Rifki – Abu-Ubaida was killed, along with other 7 Abu Sayyaf militants, on 01/06/2007 in an army raid, in the Southern Island of Tawi-Tawi.
