In Peshawar Osama bin Laden met Dr’ Abdullah Azzam for the first time, Together Osama bin Laden and Dr’ Abdullah Azzam opened a travel agency, Maktab al-khidamat , to cover the massive move of Muslim volunteers to Afghanistan. At that time Osama bin Laden became more and more fanatic in his expressions.
Osama bin Laden went back to Saudi Arabia in 1986. Because he was already known as a fanatic Muslim he was put under home arrest and supervision of Saudi Arabian authority. Thanks to his connections Osama bin Laden got permission to leave Saudi Arabia and he returned to Afghanistan in 1987 where he met Ayman Al Zawahiri. Together with Ayman Al Zawahiri, Dr‘ Abdullah Azzam, Mamdouh Mahmud Salim and Abu Ubaidah al-Banshiri Osama bin Laden founded in 08/1988 a new support formation “the base” for the Mujahidin in Afghanistan – later known as ” Al Qaeda “ . When the war in Afghanistan ended Osama bin Laden returned to Saudi Arabia in 1989.
Before and during the first Gulf War in January 1991 against Iraq Osama bin Laden sharply criticized the Saudi authority for permitting USA troops to use the holy Muslim country, Saudi Arabia, for their bases, to fight other Muslims in Iraq. Osama bin Laden instead offered his Afghan veterans to launch a guerrilla campaign against the Iraqi Army in Kuwait. Under the Saudi authority pressure Osama bin Laden moved in 1991 to Khartoum, Sudan.
In Sudan Osama bin Laden earned millions as a contractor working with the government of Sudan but his main occupation was to build, from the foundation, a new Al Qaeda as an international Muslim terror network. In Sudan Osama bin Laden met hundreds of delegations from all over the Muslim world, Afghan war veterans, EGYPTIAN Islamic Jihad fleeing from Egypt and other frustrated Muslim. The Fatwah was a war declaration against the West, the Jews and against all those who fight true Muslims in the world. The Fatwah became the Al Qaeda manifest.
In 1999 local tribes, operated under CIA command, targeted Osama bin Laden in Tarnak farm north of Kandahar, one of Al Qaeda s’ training camp, but the mission was canceled as not to risk innocent people. On 07/2001, just two months before The 9/11 , when Osama bin Laden was already on the FBIs’ Most Wanted list, because of the attack on USA embassy in Kenya and Tanzania on 08/07/1998, Osama bin Laden was admitted for an operation in the American Hospital in Dubai. Rather than to arrest him he was interviewed by the local CIA head of station. The meeting was later described as a form of “negotiation”. A day before The 9/11, on the 9/10, Osama bin Laden was in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, in a military hospital for dialysis treatment.
After The 9/11 the USA invaded Afghanistan in Operation “Absolute Justice” on 11/2001. Osama bin Laden managed to escape after a raid on his hideout in Tora Bora on 12/2001.
