In his testimony, on 04/08/2008, before the USA congress Armed Services Committee America’s top general in Iraq, David Petraeus, has warned US politicians that pulling troops out of Iraq too quickly would jeopardize the “fragile” security gains made in recent months.
The general also continued to criticize Iraq’s neighbor, Iran, for supporting and training Shiaa fighters in Iraq through cells the US army describes as “special groups”. (See – New Stage )
Gen’ David Petraeus also sharply criticized the recent Iraqi operation against Shiaa militias in the southern city of Basra as “not adequately planned or prepared”. (See – Basra test case )
