– A TERROR CELL ARRESTED IN ITALY

A cell of five North Africans, one from Morocco and four from Tunisian descent, have been arrested in North Italy on Saturday 08/09/2008. They have ben charged with conspiring to commit acts of international terrorism. The police is still looking after a sixth suspect.
The cell was led by Khalil Jarraya, a veteran of Bosnia’s 1992-95 and war who was a senior commander of the Arab volunteers, and its member were arrested Bologna, Ravenna on Italy’s Adriatic coast, and Como near Milan. Khalil Jarraya who has received Bosnian citizenship, may have recruited others already sent abroad.
According to Claudio Galzerano, head of the Italian police force’s international terrorism division the cell sent tens of thousands of Euros (dollars) to groups in Bosnia that offer training and logistical support to Iraqi and Afghanistan’s terror organizations. The North Africans are also charged with fraud. They are alleged to have collected money from phony car accident insurance claims to finance their operations. Khalil Jarraya who has received Bosnian citizenship, may have recruited others already sent abroad.
