– EARNEST JAMES UJAAMA

James  Ujaama was born as James Earnest Thompson in Denver, Colorado, USA in 1966. He moved with his family to Seattle, Oregon in 1971. James  Ujaama was a very creative businessman and started his first business at age 9. He converted to Islam and changed his last name to Ujaama. On 06/10/1994, the same day that the city of Seattle gave him a key to the city as a gesture of honour and Washington State lawmakers declared the 06/10/1994 “James  Ujaama Day” for his community service. 

In early 1999 James  Ujaama traveled to London UK for studies Islamic law – the Sharia. It is probably the time that he turned to radicalism. James  Ujaama helped manage an affiliated Web site advocating violence against the United States and other Western nations. James  Ujaama met in London Abu Hamza al-Masri and was one of his followers.

In late 1999 James  Ujaama initiated the idea of establishing a training camp for Islamic militants in Oregon (see Oregon camp). In 2000 he visited Afghanistan in support of the Taliban regime and brought with him computers and money.

On 07/22/2002 James  Ujaama was arrested in Denver and charged for providing material support and resources to Islamic militants in connection with Oregon camp and ‘Detroit cell‘.

In 02/2004 James  Ujaama pled guilty in a plea bargain after video’s were uncovered showing James  Ujaama sitting next to Abu Hamza al-Masri and talking about Jihad.  He was sentenced to two years in jail on condition that he would provide information for ongoing terrorism investigations – especially for Abu Hamza al-Masri, whose Web site James  Ujaama once ran .

In 12/2006 James  Ujaama was rearrested in Belize with a Mexican passport after violating parole in the United States.
