– OSAMA NAZIR

 

Osama  Nazir alias Adil Ahmed, was born in Bahawalpur, Pakistan, probably in the early 70s’. He was accused of several attacks against Christians in Bahawalpur. Osama  Nazir became a close associate of Maulana Masood Azhar and a senior member in Jaish-e-Mohammed with direct connection to Osama Bin Laden and Mullah Omar. A $5 million bounty on his head was offered by USA in 2002 after he was implicated with a 2002 attack on an Islamabad church in Pakistan, which left five dead including two American citizens. Thirteen US citizens were wounded in the church attack too.

Pakistani police claimed that Osama  Nazir was also involved in the double Rawalpindi attempts on Pervez Musharraf’s life in 12/2003.

In early 2004 Osama  Nazir met in Pakistan with Shehzad Tanweer, one of the London 7/7 suicide bombers, in his stronghold the ‘Madrassah Fatehul Quran Al Arabia’ in Faisalabad. Osama  Nazir is, therefore suspected by the UK of heaving some role in London 7/7 bombings.

In 07/2004 the Pakistani army claimed to have killed Osama  Nazir along with six others – though he was arrested in 11/2004, when Pakistani troops stormed the ‘Madrassah Fatehul Quran Al Arabia’ attached to the radical Jamia Zikriya Mosque in Faisalabad.

Osama  Nazir was arrested with his wife Zainab Bibi and two young daughters who were later released.

Osama  Nazir was interrogated in Pakistan by USA intelligence officials for his connection to the 2002 attack on an Islamabad church. Eventually Osama  Nazir was handed over to USA without facing charges in Pakistan. Today (07/2008) Osama  Nazir is detained in Guantanamo.
