– NEW BIN LADEN’S AUDIO THREATENS EUROPE
In an audio massage, lasted 5 minuts, posted, on 03/19/2008 night, in a website that has carried Al Qaeda messages in the past, Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden threatens Europe to be punished for the republishing of the Muhammad Cartoons in Denmark on 02/13/2008. (See – Arhus arrests )
The Saudi-born Al-Qaeda leader also attacked Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah, whom he described as the “crownless king in Riyadh”.
Over the audio was a graphic with a still image of Bin Laden holding an AK-47 and bearing the logo of As-Sahab, the media wing of Al Qaeda.
Although it is the 5th the anniversary of the war in Iraq it is most likely that Osama’s audio massage, which does not include reference to Iraq’s war, marks the anniversary of the birth of Prophet Muhammad, which Sunni Muslims mark on Thursday, the 03/20/2008.
The next day, on 03/20/2008 evening, a second audio tape from Osama Bin Laden was broadcasted in Al-Jazeera T.V Network in Arabic. In the second audio he called upon Palestinians – “The nearest jihad battlefield to support our people in Palestine is the battlefield of Iraq,” and coincides with the fifth anniversary of the US invasion to Iraq.
Bin Laden referred to Annapolis Convention from 11/27/2007 and said “Palestine cannot be retaken by negotiations and dialogue, but with fire and iron,” and that the current Arab leaders were accomplices in Israeli attacks on Gaza.

- While the second in Command in Al Qaeda, Ayman Al Zawahiri, appears time and again in well edited video footage – Osama bin Laden is broadcasting audiotapes rarely. His last Video footage was broadcasted in Al-Jazeera on Friday 09/07/2007 (See -09/07/2007 video ). The former audiotape was transmitted on 11/29/2007 but was taped much earlier (See – Audio 11/29/2007 ). The appearance of Osama bin Laden clearly indicates that his access to the media is, relatively to Ayman al Zawahiri, very limited. It also suggests that for some reason he abstains from being fully shown in TV, probably because of his health and physical condition.
- It is the second audiotape in which Osama bin Laden links the Israeli-Palestinian conflict with the Global Jihad and the liberation of Palestine as an outcome of the success in the world wide confrontation with the “Jews and Crusaders”.
- It seems that the first Audio intended to mark the Prophet Muhammad birthday and was recorded after the second video. The second video was aimed clearly to the fifth anniversary of the war in Iraq and was recorded sometime earlier – probably after the Annapolis Convention.

It is most likely that the acting leader of Al Qaeda is Ayman Al Zawahiri, while Osama Bin Laden remains the trade mark and the symbol of the Global Jihad.
