One of the Israeli Dolphin-class submarines, the most secret Israeli weapon system, which are widely assumed to carry nuclear cruse missiles, and considered to strike back should Iran attack Israel with nuclear weapons, sailed the Suez Canal to the Red Sea as part of a naval drill, mid 06/2009, defense sources said, on Friday 07/03/2009, describing the unusual maneuver as a show of strategic reach vis a vis of Iran.
The Sunday Times reported, on Sunday 07/05/2009, that Mossad head Meir Dagan assured Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu that Saudi Arabia would allow Israeli Air Force jets to fly over their kingdom during any future raid on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
The Israeli media has already carried unconfirmed reports that high-ranking officials, including former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, held meetings with Saudi colleagues. The Saudis, for obvious reasons, denied the reports.
The accumulation of such reports is a clear signal that:
A. The Middle East is no longer defined by the Palestinian conflict but by the much larger conflict with Iran (see – Arab-Axis). Arab Sunni countries are ready to cooperate with Israel in deferent dimensions, whether the Palestinian conflict is solved or not (see – Hezballah-Network). Further more, they are not ready to mortgage their best interests and National security to the Palestinian cause.
B. Barak Obama’s tour in the Middle East, on 06/03/2009, failed to ensure and calm the Arab countries that USA, even as a last resort, will prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear capacity. Further more, Barack Obama raised concern among Sunni Arabs that USA is ready to a comprehensive sharing power deal over the Middle East with Shiite Iran, which will include Iraq and on the expense of the Sunni Arab countries (see – Obama’s Tour).
C. Although a comprehensive peace with Israel is not on the top of their agenda since it might raise tensions with its Islamic militants, there is a growing understanding that it will be Israel who will, eventually, take the chestnuts from the fire for the Islamic Sunni moderate countries.
