– ABDELLATIF MOURAFIK & HICHAM TEMSAMANI JAD

* Abdellatif Mourafik –  

 

Abdellatif Mourafik, a Moroccan citizen also known as “Malik al-Maghrebi” (King of North Africa), was a member of the Al Qaeda affiliated network which included also Tayssir Allouni. Most of the cell members were arrested in Spain on 09/04/2003.

Abdellatif Mourafik traveled several times to Afghanistan and was in Kabul on 09/09/2001, the day that Ahmed Shah Masood was assassinated.

Abdellatif Mourafik, who spent much of his time with Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in Iraq since the USA invasion to Iraq in 03/2003, was, most likely, the coordinator between the Ansar al-Islam in Iraq and the Al Qaeda network in Spain.

According to the Moroccan intelligence Abdellatif Mourafik was implicated with the Casablanca Bombings, on 05/16/2003.    

Abdellatif Mourafik was arrested in Turkey few days before the police in Spain swooped and arrested the rest of the network. He was extradited back to Morocco few days later on 09/17/2003.  He cooperated with the authorities and provided an insight about the relations between Al Qaeda, Ansar al-Islam and the Moroccan networks in Europe.

Today (06/2009) Abdellatif Mourafik deeds or whereabouts are unknown to the public.

* Hicham Temsamani Jad –  

 

Hicham Temsamani Jad, alias Rouaim, was born in Morocco in the mid 70s’ and was the Imam of a Mosque in Toledo, Spain in 2003. He was an associate of Robert Richard Pierre, whom he met often in Tangier. According to the French intelligence Hicham Temsamani Jad planed with Robert Richard Pierre terror attacks against an oil Facility and a synagogue in Lyon, Southern France. 

Hicham Temsamani Jad was wanted, therefore, by the Moroccan Authorities for being involved in the Casablanca Bombings. Hicham Temsamani Jad was arrested by the Spanish authorities, on 06/19/2003, in Vitoria, Spanish Basque region, and extradited to Morocco on 03/12/2004. Police found in his property several forged passports aside his legal Moroccan one. On 05/01/2005 Hicham Temsamani Jad was sentenced to 6 years imprisonment for providing money for illegal activity in Morocco. But, on 10/28/2005, Hicham Temsamani Jad was acquitted in an appeal in Rabat, Morocco, from all charges brought against him and freed.
