– 2 DETAINED IN CANADA OVER RELATION TO “TERRORISM”
Two Canadian students, Jamali el- Mahdi (L) and Sabrine Djaermane, both 18, appeared in a Montreal court Wednesday 04/15/2015 over fears they were plotting to commit crimes related to “terrorism,” CBC’s Radio-Canada said. They were ordered to remain in custody.
The The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said only the investigation was ongoing and could lead to their indictment. Jamali el- Mahdi and Sabrine Djaermane were students at Montreal’s College de Maisonneuve. The school was also apparently attended by five of seven people who allegedly went to Turkey en route to Syria, where they planned to join I.S.I.S militants, according to some of the youths’ parents.
The latest arrests follow the recent detention of two other Montrealers, Merouane Ghalmi (L), 22, and Daniel Darko Minta, 26, who are accused of plotting acts that would threaten national security.Ghalmi and Darko were ordered to wear GPS bracelets, allowing the RCMP to track their movements. They also handed over their passports and are not allowed to be in contact with each other.
