– A NEW WAR IN THE MEAS”T

* After a relative long standstill between the players in the Middle East, with no new war in the last 4 months, when the new Sunni-Shiaa war breached out in Yemen in late 03/2015, the Middle East has a new war to cope with, new waves of refugees, new dimension of destruction more chaos in the already chaotic situation in the region – the Turkish-Kurdish war (it is not long before commentators will blame the deadlock in the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians as the root cause of the new war).

On Friday 07/24/2015, when U.S. Defense Secretary Ashton  Carter arrived on an unannounced visit y to Erbil, capital of Iraq’s Kurdistan region whose forces, known as “Peshmerga”, have emerged as one of America’s strongest and most effective partners in the fight against Islamic State,  to discuss regular Kurdish requests for direct arms and equipment supply and not through the Iraqi Army, which proves  itself as extremely inefficient, and The Pentagon said it is examining Kurdish requests, including for mine-resistant vehicles.

The  visit by itself and the direct negotiations are a step toward Kurdish sovereignty  legitimacy and a nightmare to Turkey that feras  that 10 millions Kurds in Eastern Turkey will seek to form a united Kurdish state stretches  on parts of Iraq, Syria and all Eastern Turkey.

But almost at the same time,  after a telephone call between President Barack Obama and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey and USA  struck a deal – Turkey has agreed to allow USA planes to launch air strikes against Islamic State fighters from its airbase at Incirlik, close to the Syrian border, and Turkey, under the excuse of bombing I.S..I.S, will establish a security zone of 40 k”m wide along its borders in Syria and Iraq in territories almost uniquely inhabited by Kurds, a bitter enemy of ISIS. It also began, on Friday 07/24/2015,  a series of bombings against the Kurdish Worker Party – known as PKK, the main Kurdish opposition in Turkey despite a “Peace Treaty” between the parties.

USA tried to make a difference between “good Kurds” who fights ISIS and “bad Kurds” who seek  recognition in Turkey and the implementation of the “Peace treaty” from 03/2013. But the Kurds refer to themselves as one nation betrayed and doublecrossed by USA .  The Kurds, now with higher self confidence and experience, without borders to separate between them and the states of Iraq and Syria no more a factor to cope with, will place a substantial challenge to the integrity and territory of Turkey , Turkey is derived to a long bloody conflict as if there is a shortage in  bloody conflicts in the region. The kurds has little to lose and Turkey is risking its integrity with the courtesy of America.   .

Indeed   Turkish officials said, on Sunday 07/26/2015, Kurdish rebels have detonated a car bomb in Turkey’s mainly Kurdish southeast Diyarbakir province that killed two soldiers and wounded four – the new war began. .
