– SIMI LEADER SAFDAR NAGORI ARRESTED IN INDIA
The Indian police announced the arrest of Safdar Nagori, on Wednesday 03/26/2008 night, by the Special Task Force (STF) of the Madhya Pradesh Police. Sfdar Nagori is the general secretary of SIMI – Students Islamic Movement of India which banned in India since 09/28/2001. He was arrested in Indore in the state of Madhya Pradesh alongside 10 more militant activists of the organization.
Before his arrest, Sfdar Nagori had been named in a First Information Report (FIR) for Unlawful Activities, registered at the New Friends Colony Police station in South Delhi, was declared a proclaimed offender in the case and had been absconding since September 27, 2001.
Sfdar Nagori is accused of carrying out unlawful activities against the country and he has been on their list of most wanted people for a while.
Members of SIMI had a key role in committing the Mumbai Trains Bombing on 07/11/2006 although the organization denies any involvement in the terror attack.
