FBI agents, in Seattle, Washington State, are investigating whether an American teenager, Omar Mohamud, 18, detonated one of two stolen U.N. vehicles packed with explosives at a peacekeepers base in Mogadishu, Somalia, killing 21 people, on 09/17/2009 (see – Mogadishu 09.17.09 ).
The FBI agents in Seattle had visited the home of Mohamed Mohamud, on Tuesday 09/22/2009, to investigate whether his son, Omar Mohamud, was involved in a twin suicide bombing in Mogadishu.
The investigation highlights a disturbing trend of Somali-American youths returning to their ancestral homeland to fight for an Islamic militia that the USA government links to Al Qaeda (see – Minneapolis Network).
Omar Mohamud is the second American born suicide bomber in Somalia after Shirwa Ahmed, blew himself up, on 10/28/2008, in Somalia (see also – Salah Osman Ahmed).
