– 5 MARINES KILLED IN TENNESSEE TERROR SHOOTING

A gunman, identified as Mohammad Youssuf Abdulazeez , 24, an American citizen from Kuwaiti descent , has killed on Thursday 07/16/2015, at 10:45 local time , 4 US Marines and injured several others at two US Navy recruiting center buildings in Chattanooga, Tennessee. A fifth Marine diesd soon after from his wounds .

A local district lawyer said the shootings were being investigated as an “act of domestic terrorism”.

President Barack Obama said the attack was “heartbreaking” and said the suspect appeared to be a “lone gunman”.

Mohammad Youssuf Abdulazeez has lived in the USA for several years. He came to the USA in 1996 with his parents.

The SITE Intelligence Group, an organization based in Maryland that monitors online activity by jihadi groups, said that Abdulazeez’s mother is Kuwaiti and his father Palestinian.

Mohammad Youssuf Abdulazeez was arrested earlier this year in Chattanooga for driving under the influence of alcohol but was not listed in any watch list of the FBI or local authorities in Tennessee. Mohammad Youssuf Abdulazeez wrote 2 Blog Posts About Islam Days Before the Attack

A spokesman for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga said a student with the same name graduated in 2012 with a degree in engineering, according to local media reports.

The Chattanooga Times newspaper reported that he went to a local high school and competed on the wrestling team. Mohammad Youssuf Abdulazeez worked at an Ohio nuclear plant in 2013, before being fired for not meeting minimum employment requirements, a spokeswoman told AFP Friday.

In a post written on Monday 07/13/2015, Mohammad Youssuf Abdulazeez said, “This life is short and bitter” and that Muslims should not let “the opportunity to submit to allah… pass you by”.

Mohammad Youssuf Abdulazeez left this message in his school yearbook: “My name causes national security alerts. What does yours do?”

US federal investigators say the gunman who killed four marines in a shooting spree in Tennessee had no known links to international terrorism.

But on Friday 07/17/2015 sources close to the investigation said Abdulazeez spent 7 months in Jordan in 2014 during which time he also visited, most likely, Yemen. The house where he lived, a few miles outside Chattanooga in Hixson, was raided by police after the shootings and two women were seen being taken away in handcuffs.

For months, US counterterrorism authorities have been warning of the danger of attacks by individuals inspired but not necessarily directed by the Islamic State group. Officials have said they have disrupted several such lone-wolf plots.

A fifth casualty Navy Petty Officer Randall Smith, wounded in a shooting rampage in Tennessee, died early Saturday 07/18/2015,, according to a family member.

He was previously investigated by federal officials for connections to an unnamed terrorist organization, the New York Times reported 0n 07/18/2015. Youssuf Saed Abdulazeez was briefly on a terror watch list because he sent financial contributions to a that was found to be linked to a terrorist organization, but that his case was closed..
