– 2004 – MILITANTS ARRESTED IN PAKISTAN
* Abdel Sattar Sharif Al-Masri (the Egyptian) was arrested near Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan on 08/30/2004. According to Pakistani security officials Abdel Sattar Sharif Al-Masri was among the top 25 on the list of most wanted Al Qaeda terrorists in Pakistan. He was arrested along with another Al Qaeda operative, a Saudi named Abdel Hakim. Police found in their possession explosives, weapons and large amount of ammunition. According to intelligence sources Abdel Sattar Sharif Al-Masri and Abdel Hakim smuggled to border from Iran just before their arrest. Abdel Sattar Sharif Al-Masri told his interrogators of Al Qaeda’s interest in proliferating nuclear materials from Europe to either the USA or Mexico.

* Abu Fauzi – Two suspected foreign militants were arrested, on Thursday 08/19/2004, in Peshawar, the capital of NWFP, Pakistan, after a shootout, had links with Al Qaeda security officials said. The two men were identified as Abu Fauzi, an Algerian, and the other was believed to be an Iraqi. Intelligence agents raided their hide-out in Peshawar, seizing computers, CDs and other materials, said the official.

* Ahmed Abdullah – Pakistani intelligence agents arrested a Libyan on suspicion of having links to Al Qaeda after raiding a home in Matanni, on the outskirts of Peshawar, on Thursday 09/30/2004, security officials said. The suspect is not the Egyptian Abdullah Ahmed Abdullah, who is wanted for his role in the 08/07/1998 attack on USA embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.

* Juma Ibrahim, a Syrian, was arrested, probably on 08/01/2004, due to information provided by Naeem Noor Khan, at a bus station in Hafizabad, a town near Lahore. Juma Ibrahim was turned over to Pakistan’s spy agency – ISI .

* Mohammed Salman Eisa, alias Ibrahim, was captured at Lahore airport, on Monday 08/02/2004 night, while boarding a flight to the United Arab Emirates – UAE. Official said Mohammed Salman Eisa was believed to be Nigerian, but it was not clear if he was one of the top suspects. There are no Nigerians on the FBI most-wanted list. His arrest was linked to Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani arrest, on 07/25/2004.

* Mullah Abdul Jalal, the former Deputy Foreign Minister of the Taliban regime in Afghanistan prior to operation Absolute Justice in 11/2001. Mullah Abdul Jalal was arrested in the last week of 08/2004 in Punjab, Pakistan for suspicions of giving shelter to Al Qaeda and Taliban operatives.

* Raja Waqar, a policeman assigned to the office of Punjab province’s top politician, is suspected of passing Al Qaeda linked groups information on the whereabouts of top government officials, Lahore police chief Tariq Salim Dogar told the AP. Raja Waqar was arrested on Monday 08/02/2004 or a day earlier.
