– TALIBAN BROADENS ITS FRONT LINE

At least two soldiers have been killed and three others wounded by a suicide blast, on Friday 06/26/2009 night, in Pakistani-administered Kashmir, officials say. it is thought to be the first such bombing in Pakistani-administered Kashmir.
The bomber targeted soldiers in Shaukat Lines, a military area in Muzaffarabad, the regional capital. He was described as about 18 years of age. The attacker hit an army vehicle in an area which is used for residential purposes, a military spokesman said. The bomber walked up to a gate near the residences of junior officers, and engaged the guard in a conversation.
Later, on Saturday 06/27/2009 morning, Pakistani police killed five suspected anti-government fighters linked to a Tehrik-e-Taleban leader Baitullah Mehsud in the city of Karachi. The police chief said the gunfight took place after officers raided an apartment in the west of the city where militants were planning attacks in the city.
The Taliban and alike in Pakistan are doing their outmost to broaden their war against the Pakistani regime to Pakistan’s hinterland although with limited success so far (see – PAKISTAN REPORT ).
