* Karim Said Atmani, known also as Abu Isham, is a Moroccan citizen who frequently travelled to Bosnia, until late 1999, and held both Bosnian and Moroccan passports. In Bosnia he fought in an Arab brigade led by Abdelkader Mokhtari, a GIA member.
Said Atmani was living illegally in Montreal, Canada, since 1995. He was alleged to be a document-forger for the Montreal 99 cell and a roommate of Ahmed Ressam. In 03/1998 Said Atmani attended Al Qaeda’s Khalden training camp in Afghanistan along with Mustafa Labsi and Ahmed Ressam.
Said Atmani was arrested by the Canadian authorities, on 10/14/1998, near Niagara Falls when he tried to cross the border from USA back to Canada. He was soon released on bail despite that the French intelligence wanted him for interrogation related to the Roubaix Gang and asked for his extradition already in 1996.
In 1999 Said Atmani was deported from Canada to Bosnia. He was captured in France in 2001 and sentenced to five years imprisonment in late 2001, after being convicted of colluding with Osama Bin Laden.
