– BILAL AL-BERJAWI

Bilal Al-Berjawi , believed to be born in 1985, grew up in west London since his family moved to the UK from Lebanon when he was an infant. He fought in Afghanistan before joining insurgents in Somalia from about 2006 in association with Mohammed Emwazi. There were unconfirmed reports that he had been injured in a drone attack lin 06/2011, after which his wife was said to have returned to the UK. In 01/2011 Bilal Al-Berjawi was stripped of his British citizenship (see -Somali U.K Radicals ).

Bilal Al-Berjawi death was announced,on 01/22/2012, as it was claimed that an Al-Qaeda commander killed in a drone attack, on the outskirts of the war-town Somali capital Mogadishu, was a British citizen according to al-Kataib media foundation.

Bilal Al-Berjawi, Also known as Abu Hafsa, is understood to have helped oversee recruitment, training and tactics for al-Shabab. He was described as a “close associate” of late Al Qaeda operative Fazul Abdullah Mohammed, who directed the 08/07/1998 bombings of the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.

Insurgent group al-Shabab in Somalia said Bilal Al-Berjawi, from Lebanese descent, grew up in West London before he too went to fight in Afghanistan, but the Foreign Office denied he had held British citizenship.

The 27-year-old’s wife is understood to have given birth to a child in a London hospital a few hours before the missile strike, prompting suspicions among relatives that his location had been pinpointed as a result of a telephone conversation between the couple.
